AveArts_3203-19AUG14The Friends of the Avenue of the Arts, Inc. hosted their Get Friendly event at the PHS Pop-Garden at 1438 South Street on Tuesday, August 19, 2014.  Lindsay Christian, Megan Carr, and Kate Carr (pictured above) hosted the event that encouraged Friends of Avenue of the Arts, Inc. members to “Bring a friend, meet a Friend, become a Friend” (to become a Friend of the Avenue of the Arts click here).

AveArts_3201-19AUG14Friends mingled with other visitors of the garden and sipped beer, wine (available at the cash-only bar for $6 each), and specialty cocktails ($7).  Megan, Lindsay, and Kate (founder of balanced CREATIVE, a marketing firm for small businesses) collected business cards from guests in attendance and then drew winners for the 2015 Philadelphia Horticulture Society (PHS) Flower Show.  Michael Adler and Janet Fiore won the tickets to the show which will boast a Hollywood motif when it comes to the Pennsylvania Convention Center in March.

The major aim of Avenue of the Arts, Inc. (AAI) is to encourage development along Broad Street, the vital artery of Philadelphia.  Friends of the Avenue of the Arts, Inc. formed under AAI in 2008 in order to provide social networking opportunities for members and residents of the buildings along the Avenue.  Throughout the year, they hold various events to promote this sense of community.  The event on Tuesday at the PHS Pop-Up Garden was just one such event.

Their next occasion is at The Capital Grille (1338 Chestnut Street) on Wednesday, September 3, 2014.  Big Event with Small Theatres will foster awareness and highlight the eleven small theatres that dot Philadelphia.  From 6:00-7:30 PM, members and guests will enjoy wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres as they acquaint themselves with the venues. Visit faa-bigeventwithsmalltheaters.eventbrite.com or call 610.200.5012 to register/RSVP for this evening.  The evening is free to new and current members of Friends of AAI.

Camera! Bloom! show.  Purchase in advance here for $27 per person or buy them at the door for $32.
